There’s a reason that Edinburgh is the UK’s second most visited city, with a whopping 4.9 million visits a year; there is a lot of culture here that attracts people. Therefore the Edinburgh mug had a lot to live up to. Besides all the history, we added in more recent events like a nod to Dolly the sheep.
In terms of landmarks, we added in the heartfelt Greyfriars Bobby story, which could bring a tear to the hardiest of Edinburgh men. Also mentioned is the striking red of the Forth Bridge, voted Scotland's greatest man-made structure. It wouldn’t be a proper Scottish mug without a blue, and seeing as Edinburgh has exploded in festivals giving the jazz & Blues a shout-out seemed fitting.
